Frequently Asked Questions
On this page, you can find answers to questions regarding what to expect from your session and massage therapist. You can also learn more about how Abode’s appointments and policies work.
What To Expect
-
It is common for a mobile massage therapist to arrive between 15 - 30 minutes before the appointment time.
However, it is not uncommon for service providers to arrive 15-30 minutes past the appointment time.
Be sure to set plenty of time aside for your massages. This is not like going to a spa where the massage therapists are waiting for you. It is a mobile service.
-
While it is typical for mobile massage therapists to arrive 15-30 minutes early, no matter which business you book with, there are rare occasions when that is not the case. Considering it is a mobile service, factors such as traffic and weather can get in the way of a provider arriving early and at times can even make them late.
Because of this it is recommended to be prepared by setting aside extra time for your session.
If the service can no longer be provided due to lateness, any frustration or disappointment is understandable and taken seriously. You will not be charged and can be rescheduled with a 10% discount.
-
In the event that a client is late, it is possible the session time may be cut short. This is not a personal decision. It depends on whether the massage therapist has another client after your appointment, or if they are willing to work outside their business hours for the day.
If you are unsure of whether or not you will make it to your appointment, please consider rescheduling in advance to avoid missing your massage and being charged a no-show fee.
Be attentive to your door so massage therapists can get inside on time. There have been many occasions of clients being unaware that the providers are at the door, causing their sessions to be cut short. Sometimes doorbells don't ring, nobody is close enough to hear knocking on the door or are near a phone to be notified.
-
This form is essential for receiving bodywork from anyone. Whether you are using a mobile service, going to a spa or seeing a private practitioner you will be filling an intake form. They are for record-keeping purposes in regard to your physical condition and informed consent.
When you book as an individual the form will be sent and can be filled electronically. If it can't be completed before the appointment, there are physical copies of the form that can be filled in person.
When appointments are booked as a couple or group massage a physical form will be provided for each client to complete.
-
Only disrobe to your comfort. Some keep under garments on, some remain completely clothed.
Keep in mind any area covered by garments must be considered a restricted area by massage therapists. Therefore, those areas may only be worked on over the sheet.
Before Booking
-
Mobile massage is not limited to houses. Whether you are in a house, office, apartment or hotel, this service will come to you.
-
Unless there is an elevator, having your massage on the ground floor is most ideal. Please keep in mind there are service providers who may not feel safe and decline bringing their massage table up flights of stairs. Understand this is a reasonable concern as this scenario can be considered hazardous.
If you plan on having a massage upstairs, please specify that upon booking.
If you are located on a third floor and up without an elevator or personal massage table to use, this service cannot be provided.
-
First, you want to make sure there is enough room. At least a 6'x10' area to ensure the therapist is able to move around the table.
It is recommended that you wear a robe to easily get on and off the table. Remember to remove jewelry and shower ahead of time.
You will not have to provide anything such as lotion or sheets. The massage therapist will arrive with everything they need to perform the service.
-
To book an individual session or back-to-back sessions, hit the ‘Book Now’ button on the Home or Services page to set your appointment online.
To book a couple or group massage, head to the page on this website labeled "Couples & Groups" to submit a completed form. You will be contacted within 24 hours.
-
Filling the form will get your appointment booked faster. Knowing the necessary information altogether without the back and forth will help tremendously when it comes to pairing you with an available massage therapist asap.
-
To be transparent. For one, I may not be able to respond to your same-day request right away. Possibly not even until the following day. Two, it is unlikely that a service provider will be available on short notice (yes, even hours in advance is short notice). Most mobile massages are scheduled ahead of time. It could be worth a try but do not expect to be booked at the snap of a finger.
Payment & Cancellation
-
Payment is made after the service has been provided.
When booked with massage therapists other than me please be ready to pay via Zelle, Venmo, Cashapp or cash.
When booked with me you can pay any of the ways listed above or with your card. This is because I'm the only provider with the ability to process card payments.
-
Tips are never expected but always appreciated. The typical tip for a massage ranges between 15% - 20%.
-
You have until 6 hours prior to the appointment to cancel without being charged the cancellation fee.
-
Cancellation fees are based on the session length:
60 minutes - $60
90 minutes - $90
2 hours - $120
-
This fee is necessary to ensure payment for the service provider. They have dedicated a slot in their schedule to see you. It is important to compensate for their time as it could have been filled with another appointment.
-
Failure to pay the cancellation fee will result in being barred from booking future appointments.
